da betsson: According to a new report from Le 10 Sport, Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Lemar is set to stay in La Liga despite heavy interest from the likes of Arsenal and Olympique Lyon.
What’s the word, then?
da mrbet: Lemar has been courted by many clubs throughout the January transfer window, as the same source outlines in its report, but it seems that interested parties have been dealt a big blow.
The Gunners were one of the clubs that showed the most interest and Atletico Madrid were put in a rather complicated situation, not exactly knowing which way to go.
Quickfire Quiz: How much do you know about Arsenal’s history in the January transfer window?
But some new information from Le 10 Sport suggests that Lemar has now decided to stay in the Spanish capital and seemingly fight for his place under Diego Simeone.
However, this could be a temporary stance as his entourage are not ruling out a possible transfer in the summer when his situation will once again be re-evaluated.
Verdict
It’s pretty safe to say Lemar’s switch from France to Spain hasn’t really yielded the best of results.
In his first 64 games played for Simeone’s troops, the 24-year-old ace has only managed to net three goals and six assists. Not to mention that he’s still waiting for his first strike in the ongoing campaign.
The Rojiblancos are struggling in the final third in general, only managing to score 22 goals in the first 19 games played in La Liga, and they could use all the firepower they can get.
And for that reason, maybe Lemar’s decision is something to look forward to.
Sure, he hasn’t been a great hit so far but can Atletico Madrid really afford to lose a young forward when they are struggling for goals themselves?
Maybe this particular update from Le 10 Sport will end up representing a blessing in disguise.
