da betway: Crystal Palace are one of the worst Premier League sides of 2016 and Alan Pardew is at risk of seeing his managerial tenure at the Eagles go the same way as it did with Newcastle.
da doce: Their run of no league victories in 2016 has seen them slip from Europa League contention to the precipice of a relegation battle, with Pardew’s trademark slump in form coming towards the end of 2015. The club had been flying high since Pardew took over, but their dip in form before Christmas has seen them crash into the bottom half of the table and must’ve left some of their bigger name stars wondering what they are doing at such a mediocre team.
The quality, frustratingly for the fans, is still there.
Injuries have made it tough for Pardew, but two points from their last 30 available in PL football is the worst record in the league. Only Norwich, who have also suffered a 2016 crash to earth have anywhere near as poor a run of form as the Eagles.
If anything can make players want to leave, its a club sliding in the wrong direction.
We bring you FIVE of Palace’s stars who might be about to call time on their time at the club…
Yannick Bolasie
Despite a lengthy injury lay-off, Bolasie has netted four times for Palace this season.
The Congolese winger is often criticised for his end product and that is likely to put off many of the bigger clubs from signing him.
Bolasie is in illustrious company when you look at his dribbles per game and the Palace man’s box of tricks have him in the top six, alongside Alexis, Dembele and Mahrez.
Any player who can do the unpredictable like Bolasie is an asset and Palace’s marked improvement since his return are a testament to this. The biggest sides are unlikely to take the gamble, but upper mid-table clubs might just be eyeing up a move for one of the great entertainers in PL football.
Wilfried Zaha
Like Bolasie, Zaha is an entertainer.
The former Manchester United man has found his best form at Selhurst Park once more and is beginning to be thought of as a wildcard pick for the England squad.
His pace and penchant for step overs make him a terror for any full-back and no player in the English top flight has completed as many dribbles this season as Zaha, with 3.8 per game.
His failure at United may put some off signing the youngster, but the potential is still so evident that Palace will surely be about to have their resolve tested.
Yohan Cabaye
Although it might say more about Palace than Cabaye, the French midfielder is joint top scorer for the Eagles.
A move back to France could be on the cards for Cabaye and, depending on Deschamps’ squad selection, an impressive European Championship could have a significant bearing on his future.
His arrival last summer was a huge coup for the Eagles, but the disappointing second half of this campaign must have Cabaye wondering why he didn’t opt for one of the more reliable sides.
If he does want to stay with English football, Cabaye won’t be short of offers from top-half clubs.
Scott Dann
As with Cabaye, its questionable how much it says about Dann himself, but the towering centre-half is the club’s joint top scorer this season, with five.
This statistic, in itself, is an indictment of the problems that Pardew has faced at Palace and must be endlessly frustrating for Dann. Defensively, Palace have not been too poor for much of the season, but, as it was at Newcastle, Pardew cannot find a way of making his side score freely.
No defender in PL football makes more blocks than Scott Dann and this stat alone will have piqued the interest of several other clubs.
Dann must be considering a move elsewhere and the Palace centre-back has seen his Euro chances decrease massively with his side’s slump. If he harbours further England ambition, a move is likely to be required.
Chelsea and Liverpool will both be in the market for a central defender and Dann will be high on the list.
Bakary Sako
Sako has been in and out of the side this season and the winger has been used in a number of positions.
Used across the attacking midfield line and as a lone centre forward on occasion, Sako has shown any potential suitors that he is an adept squad player and could easily fit in to any Premier League side outside of the top eight.
Pace, as with so many of Palace’s players, is his greatest attribute and every Premier League side will be looking to add difference makers to their bench for next season.
