da fazobetai: With Christian Benteke on his way out of Anfield this summer, a number of clubs were linked with the Belgian striker.
da betano casino: One of the interested parties, Crystal Palace, had reportedly initially bid £25million for the striker, but saw this rejected immediately by the Reds, as Liverpool look to recoup as much of their £32.5 million outlay as possible.
Then it was reported that a new offer to take the mis-firing forward to Selhurst Park could be worth up to £31.5m.
The Eagles’ offer is said to be around £27million, with add-ons based on appearances and on-field success potentially lifting this to a club-record fee.
The Belgium international is said to be willing to join Pardew’s team and shares the boss’s ambitions for Palace with personal terms not thought to be an issue.
Benteke was reported to be earning £120,000-a-week at Liverpool, which means Palace are going to have to really put their money where their mouths are in a determined effort to consolidate a position within the top 10 of the Premier League.
The 25-year-old’s move to Merseyside from Aston Villa has not gone according to plan and once Jurgen Klopp arrived, his way of playing did not seem to suit Klopp’s style. Very quickly the Liverpool man found himself down the pecking order and now facing an Anfield exit.
He has four seasons remaining on his five-year contract at Merseyside, but opportunities will be limited under Klopp, even more so after the £30m signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton.
When you consider how well Benteke did with Villa, no one saw this drop in form coming. Obviously the striker is having a crisis of confidence and a move away to rejuvenate an ailing career is what is required.
The question remains as to whether South London is the right destination. London neighbours West Ham were said to be interested, but have since cooled off the idea. Fans at Selhurst Park will be urging the club to find someone else based on last season, but the player could come good again under the right manager and with the right service on the pitch.
Pardew is certainly trying to build a squad capable of sustaining top 10 finishes in the league and is in pursuit of European football, but Eagles fans will already be recalling Adebayor’s less than dramatic arrival last January – one non-scoring striker after another.
The club must have considered the lack of determination in Benteke’s form last year, coupled with the amount of effort that wasn’t evident once the new boss arrived. His injury record isn’t great either, and so on the evidence of all of the aforementioned, Pardew must think he can do something with the striker and be willing to shell out near enough £32m in the process.
Benteke would certainly get the kind of balls he craves from the Palace attack and it might just be what he needs. Going to another big name club with the weight of expectation upon him would probably do more harm than good and so Benteke and Palace seem like a good fit.
Alan Pardew saw his side struggle for goals last season, with only West Brom and Villa scoring fewer than their 39 in the league.
The Eagles boss hopes Benteke recaptures the sort of form which made him one of the most feared target men in English football.
