da roleta: Following back-to-back Premier League wins over Watford and Bournemouth, Newcastle United have recovered from their shocking start to the season and now find themselves 14th in the table having previously been in the relegation zone.
da prosport bet: It has been some turnaround from Rafael Benitez’s men considering the situation they were in earlier in the campaign, and one player who certainly deserves credit for his side’s change in fortunes is Fabian Schar.
The Breakdown
Schar arrived at St. James’ Park back in the summer from La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna as Benitez looked to bolster his central defensive options.
Schar, however, had seen little action until of late with captain Jamaal Lascelles sidelined through injury, but the 26-year-old has come into the team to great effect and is now looking to cement a place.
“You have to be patient. Sometimes it is not easy – but everyday working hard is what it’s all about,” Schar told the Evening Chronicle. “That is what I have had to do. The last couple of week I wasn’t getting the minutes.
“Even when you know you have to be patient it’s not easy. You have to do everything to be ready when you are needed. I was ready and I’m happy about the last two weeks.”
With Federico Fernandez also being brought in during the last transfer window, it has not been easy for Schar, who needed Lascelles’ unavailability in order to get a real chance in the team.
The Switzerland international, though, has taken that chance, giving Benitez a real decision to make once he has a full set of central defenders to choose from.
